Your summer programme at the Linde

On historic paths

The well-known long distance hiking trail and cycle path, the Via Claudia Augusta, runs past Ried and thus right past the Gartenhotel Linde. The former Roman road still leads from the German town of Donauwörth over the Alps to Venice. On this restored and well-signed hiking trail/cycle path you are following in footsteps which are steeped in history.

Insider tip: autumn hiking

Even if some mountain huts close their doors in September when the cattle are driven back down from the mountain, the hiking season certainly doesn’t end here in North Tyrol. In fact, the weather conditions are often more stable in autumn than in summer. And the clearer the air, the more spectacular the views are from the summit.

Hiking the Waalweg paths in North Tyrol

The famous “Waale”, ancient water channels for irrigating the sunny southern slopes, also run through the Tyrolean Oberland. On the Kaunerberg water path – very near the Gartenhotel – you follow one of these lifelines of the cultivated Alpine landscape to its source.
